Buford and Gainesville both completed perfect regular seasons, and Lumpkin County qualified for the Class 3A playoff on Friday night in the regular season finale around the state and area.
The Class 7A No. 1-ranked Wolves blasted Central Gwinnett, 49-7, while Class 6A No. 5 Gainesville whipped Jackson County, 51-0, as both improved to 10-0 on the season. Both will play host to first-round playoff games next week.
Lumpkin County, needing a win to secure its first playoffs since 2014, hammered West Hall, 55-7, at The Burial Grounds. The Indians will be the No. 2 seed and host next weekend after Pickens defeated Wesleyan, 20-13, to grab the No. 3 seed in Region 7-3A. In the craziest region finish of the night, White County stormed back from 22 points down in the fourth quarter to eliminate Gilmer from the playoffs by a 38-35 score, allowing Wesleyan to get in as the No. 4.
Jefferson closed out its regular season with six straight wins after beating Eastside, 35-7, at home in Region 8-5A. Flowery Branch snapped its seven-game losing streak with a 46-0 win at home over Heritage-Conyers.
