Football: Johnson hires new head football coach

By AccessWDUN Staff

OAKWOOD, Ga. — Donovan Odom has been hired as Johnson's head football coach.

Athletics director Lewis Pulliam announced that the long-time assistant will replace William Harrell, who stepped down last month.

“Coach Odom has been a vital part of our football family,” added Pulliam. “His leadership and energy will carry the Knights into a new era. We’re confident in the direction he’ll take this program. With the 2025 season ahead, Johnson High School looks forward to a new chapter under Coach Odom and invites the entire community to support the Knights.”

Odom served as Johnson’s offensive coordinator and, most recently, defensive coordinator during his five-year tenure with the Knights.

“Thank you to God; I know anything is possible through Christ Jesus. I also want to thank my wife Rachel, my parents, and all who have supported me on this journey,” Odum said. “I am honored to lead this program. Our athletes will be accountable, dependable and teachable. We’ll instill discipline, toughness and heart—on and off the field.”
