LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Buford is 10-0 headed into the playoffs after defeating Central Gwinnett Friday night, 49-7.
The Wolves jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the opening play of the game as KJ Bolden found a crease and took the opening kickoff 97 yards to the endzone and put Buford up, 7-0, before the offense saw the field. On the next Buford drive, Justice Haynes ran 59 yards to the house, pushing the lead to 14-0 with 9:04 left in the first quarter.
Just three minutes later, Justin Baker punched it in from four yards out to go up 21-0. Buford would go over 12 minutes before scoring again as Bolden caught a 90-yard touchdown pass from Dylan Wittke to take a 28-0 lead.
The Wolves defense made their mark as well on the scoreboard as Christian Butler returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown right before halftime. Haynes scored his second touchdown of the night midway through the third quarter on a 47-yard sprint to go up 42-0.
Central Gwinnett scored late in the third, but Kobi Blackwell found a 52-yard touchdown on the opening play of the final quarter to get to the final score.
Haynes had four carries for 113 yards and two scores, while Wittke was 3-for-5 for 106 yards and a score.
The Wolves will open the 7A playoffs next week as they play host to Peachtree Ridge.
