All but two games on the schedule for Tuesday involve region play as the final two weeks for Region 7-3A, Region 8-2A, and Class A, both Division 1 and 2, begin to wind down with key series this week.
Class 3A No. 2-ranked Pickens (22-3, 14-1 Region 7-3A) has continued to dominate the region, winning 14 straight. The Dragons can wrap up a region title with one win in their final series against 10th-ranked Lumpkin County (16-4, 9-3 Region 7-3A) this week.
However, the Indians still control their own destiny. If they can sweep the Dragons and take 2 of 3 from Wesleyan (12-7, 9-3 Region 7-3A) next week, they can win the region title.
In Region 8-2A, Banks County (14-8, 7-2 Region 8-2A) takes on No. 2-ranked Fellowship Christian (19-2, 9-0 Region 8-2A) in a battle for first place. The Paladins can wrap up the region title with a series win. The Leopards can take over first place with a sweep. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday in Homer.
In a solid non-region matchup, Flowery Branch (15-9) will play host to defending Class 7A state champion Woodstock at The Hog Mountain Sports Complex. The Wolverines (17-8) dropped down to Class 6A this season and are ranked ninth.
