DACULA, Ga. – Jackson County's defense stole the show late in a 30-26 thriller at Dacula Friday night.
Tyler Mobbs got an interception with under two minutes to play and returned the ball 35 yards for a touchdown to push the Panthers out in front, 30-26. The Falcons drove the field and had a chance to win on a hail mary, but Robert Spry intercepted the final pass in the endzone to seal the win.
RJ Knapp got things started with a 35-yard pass to Silas McDaniel to put the Panthers up 7-0 late in the first quarter. After Dacula scored early in the second quarter, Chris Burrows hit a 26-yard chip shot to retake the lead. The Falcons answered midway through the period, but Jayson Lee found paydirt moments later to take a 17-14 lead into intermission.
Lee scored again midway through the third quarter on a 3-yard touchdown to retake the lead at 24-20, but the Falcons came right back and scored midway through the fourth to set up the finish.
The Panthers are off next week before hosting Madison County in two weeks.
