SUGAR HILL, Ga. – Trailing by one after three quarters of play, Lanier scored twice early in the fourth quarter on the way to a 26-17 win over North Forsyth Friday night.
Lucas Ricker kept the Raiders in the game all night, hitting three field goals, including a 46-yarder at the end of the first half to set a Raider school record and trim the Longhorn lead to 10-6 at intermission.
Ricker hit another field goal at the 4:04 mark of the third quarter to cut into the lead further before Cash Martin caught a 36-yard pass with under a minute left in the third quarter to give the Raiders their first lead of the night.
The Longhorns answered with a field goal at the 9:15 mark of the fourth quarter to retake the lead. A 21-yard passing score moments later was the final scoring play of the night.
The Raiders are off next week before traveling down to South Forsyth to open region play in two weeks.
