A fire discovered Tuesday morning at a vacant house on Gillsville Highway has been ruled a case of arson, according to Division Chief Christie Grice with Hall County Fire Services.
Grice said fire crews who were in the process of moving from the old Hall County Fire Station 1 on Athens Highway to the new location on Gillsville Highway noticed smoke coming from the rear of the house around 10:30 a.m. An engine stopped at the scene and crews were able to put out the fire.
"Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and searched the home, no person(s) were found in or near the structure," Grice said in an email statement. "The Hall County Fire Marshal has determined the cause of fire is arson and is actively searching for the arsonist."
