Body of Lanier drowning victim discovered after two months

The body of a Marietta man who went missing in Lake Lanier on May 29 has been recovered, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Xi Zhu, 56, was on an inflatable raft in the lake and he went into the water to retrieve and oar and never resurfaced. 

DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon said Zhu's body was found floating in the Shoal Creek area of the lake on Saturday, July 31. Game wardens, Hall County Fire Services personnel, Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies and officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers responded to the scene around 3 a.m. 

Authorities released the information about Zhu on Tuesday, Aug. 3.
