Habersham County woman charged in Cornelia murder

A Habersham County woman was arrested in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and is charged with murder in the weekend death of a Cornelia man.

Anslee Danielle Foster, 22, was arrested by Myrtle Beach police at a homeless shelter and is charged with the murder of Christopher Elderth, 36, of 856 Straight St., said Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith in a statement.

About 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, Cornelia officers responded to a possible suicide at 846 Straight St., where Christopher Elderth was located deceased, Smith said.

During the course of the investigation, the GBI, Cornelia Police investigators, with the assistance from the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, were able to gather evidence to obtain warrants on Anslee Danielle Foster for murder.

“This is an active investigation where further charges are expected,” Smith said. “Details of the case will not be released through the Cornelia Police Department.”

Smith said the extradition process for Foster is in the beginning stages.

“This was an isolated incident and at this time we are unfamiliar if the suspect and victim knew each other,” Smith said. “Please keep the family of the victim in your prayers.”
