UPDATE: Victim, driver identified in fatal 985 accident

The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of those involved in a fatal Tuesday morning accident on Interstate I-985.

In a release, GSP said the victim has been identified as 21-year-old Luis Essai Salazar of Gainesville.

Salazar was killed when authorities say he attempted to cross the southbound lanes of the interstate, moving from the grass median to the shoulder of the road just before 7 a.m about a half of a mile south of exit 22 at Athens Highway. He was struck by a Ford Taurus driven by 40-year-old Brandy Tanner of Gainesville.

Tanner and the two passengers in the Taurus were not hurt in the accident. According to the release, no charges have been filed but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
