Two people were arrested Friday shortly after an alleged road rage incident that authorities say involved a gun being brandished on Cleveland Highway near Gainesville.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth said the incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. on the southbound side of Cleveland Highway near Lakeland Road.
"A gray Dodge Charger was headed south on Cleveland Highway toward Gainesville and a passenger in the front seat had waved a firearm out of the window of the car," Booth said. "The complainant pulled off at Lakeland Road and called 911."
A be on the lookout was issued for the Charger, which was eventually spotted by a sheriff's deputy on Enota Avenue near Riverside Drive in Gainesville. One of the suspects, however, tried to flee on foot.
"The deputy had activated his blue lights for the stop, and the car actually made the stop, and then the male front seat passenger got out of the car and ran," Booth said.
The man, identified as Jordan Bradley Roberts, age 21 of Gainesville, was caught by sheriff's office K-9 units about 25 minutes later. He was arrested and booked into the Hall County Jail, where he remained as of Monday afternoon without bond on charges including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The female driver of the car was not arrested, as Booth said she was cooperative with the investigation. A man in the backseat, identified as Timothy Brad Bingham, age 32 of Atlanta, was arrested on charges of open container violation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
As of Monday afternoon, Bingham remained jailed on $5,900 bond.
Booth said there was no evidence that a gun was fired during the road rage incident. No injuries were reported.
