Clermont man arrested on sexual exploitation of children charges

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

A Clermont man has been arrested on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), investigators received a tip in 2022 related to the illicit online activity of 24-year-old Trey Newton Bryson.

Investigators were reportedly unable to gain access to Bryon’s electronic devices until recently, with examination of the devices being completed Monday morning.

Investigators determined that between June and September of 2022, Bryson was in possession of six images of child sex abuse material showing children between the ages of three and 14 engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The investigation also showed that on June 18 of 2022, he reportedly used a social media app to share a video of a child between the ages of eight and 10 engaged in sexual acts with an adult male. There was also evidence Bryson allegedly produced three sexually explicit images of a child between the ages of three and five.

“The offender created these images on his own, and so that adds a different level to this investigation,” B.J. Williams with the sheriff’s office said.

Williams added his one count of distribution that was not related to the local victim.

The local victim has been identified and the child’s family was notified.

All of the material was reportedly found on Bryson’s personal cell phone, and no additional charges are expected.

He was booked into the Hall County Jail at around 1 p.m. Monday and remains there without bond.
