A Flowery Branch man was arrested this past weekend after allegedly dragging a woman with his vehicle during a domestic dispute.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth said the incident started at a home on Union Circle near Union Church Road early Sunday morning. He said a 39-year-old woman asked Kyle James Craig, age 31, to drive her to her home near McEver Road.
"They got in the car and went to the victim's home, and she got out," Booth said. "At that point, (Craig) dumped the contents of her purse on the floorboard of his car. The victim then was picking up items from her purse and he drove off. He was still in the driver's seat, and she was hanging out of the car when he drove off."
Booth said Craig drug the victim for a short distance, with the woman ultimately climbing back into the car and closing the door. Craig then allegedly continued driving erratically at high speeds despite the woman asking him to let her out.
"She actually was able to get out and call 911 when he stopped at a red light in the area of Atlanta Highway and Wade Orr Road," Booth said.
Booth said the victim suffered bruises to her arm and leg during the incident but refused medical treatment. Deputies then went to the home on Union Circle and arrested Craig at around 3:45 a.m.
Craig faces a list of charges, including aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping and DUI. As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained in the Hall County Jail without bond.
