A Gillsville man was arrested Friday, Aug 23 on multiple drug charges after a week-long investigation.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth said Olaffia J. Matthew Hester, 38, was arrested for six drug-related charges in the 800 block of West Ridge Road.

The investigation started on Aug. 16 when deputies stopped an SUV with no license plate near Gillsville Highway and Harmony Church Road. Hester was a passenger of the vehicle.

According to Booth, the driver of the SUV Arianne Kristen White, 31, of Lilburn was arrested on an outstanding warrant from a different agency. Hester was released when his ride arrived.

Deputies inventoried the vehicle before it was towed and found nearly 0.6 grams of methamphetamine and two glass smoking pipes, which allegedly belonged to White.

White was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects.

Further investigation uncovered close to 13 grams of fentanyl, nearly 60 grams of a mixture containing methamphetamine, nearly one gram of crack cocaine and less than one ounce of marijuana.

Investigators said the drugs held an estimated street value of $6,500 and they allegedly belonged to Hester.

He remains in the Hall County Jail without bond and the case remains under investigation by the Special Investigations Unit.
