Georgia has a new Senate Study Committee looking to make the state number one in tourism.

That committee, the Senate Study Committee on Making Georgia the No. 1 State for Tourism, is chaired by Sen. Drew Echols (R-Gainesville) and will hold its first meeting on Thursday.

The committee was formed through Senate Resolution 323, which was passed in April of this year.

The meeting will look to involve the community in discussions to promote and develop tourism in all regions of the state. The bipartisan committee will hear from industry leaders to understand how Georgia’s diverse tourism landscape drives economic development.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday at The Boathouse at Lake Lanier. The address to that is 3105 Clarks Bridge Road, Building 1, Gainesville, Georgia 30506.

The event is open to the public and will also be livestreamed here.
