The City of Gainesville has opened its first Gainesville Chicken Festival sticker design contest, in honor of the festival’s 20th anniversary.
The contest opened on Aug. 5 and will accept submissions until 5 p.m. on Sept. 19.
The contest is free to enter for all ages, and the winning design will be printed and distributed to the public at this year’s Gainesville Chicken Festival on Oct. 18.
The design will also be distributed at the Gainesville Welcome Center and the winner will also receive free entry to the 2025 festival for themselves and two guests.
The city says that the design can be hand-drawn, painted, or created digitally but should be representative of the festival or the city’s status as “Poultry Capital of the World.”
The city said that by entering any work into the contest, the artists understands they are giving the city permission to reproduce their artwork for printing and promotional purposes. The artist won’t be compensated, but will be properly credited.
The submission should include the artist’s full name, age, city of residence, and phone number or email address. The artists must also be residents of Gainesville or Hall County.
Winners will be announced a week before the festival. Entries can be dropped off in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Gainesville Welcome Center; mailed to the Gainesville Public Relations Department, attn: Public Relations Director Christina Santee-Moss, P.O. Box 2496, Gainesville, Georgia 30503; or sent electronically via Facebook Messenger to the official City of Gainesville Facebook page.
“The City has great egg-spectations and wishes all artists the ‘best of cluck’ – we can't wait to see all your beautiful and creative works of art!” the city said in its announcement.
