Hall County authorities update community on search for Maria Gomez-Perez

By AccessWDUN Staff

Hall County officials and community members held a meeting Wednesday to update the public on the search for missing 12-year-old Gainesville girl Maria Gomez-Perez

Meeting organizer Norma Hernandez spoke with WDUN’s Bill Maine about the meeting and the search status.

“We had an amazing meeting today. We have Maj. Brad Parks, who is the investigator in charge and his task force and team of investigators working with him, we are so excited about the things that he told us that they are discovering in this case and that they are working on,” Hernandez said. “I think we now have a better understanding of where the case is. Sadly, we don't have a clue where Maria is yet. But we want to keep on spreading the word by asking and begging people for help. And the community has joined together one more time. And I am very proud because we are getting it done.”

Parks said they will hold regular meetings on Wednesdays at 3 p.m. to update the community on the search for Maria.

“We continue to have a number of leads that have come in and those processes are currently in motion to be investigated,” Parks said.

Parks added anyone with tips should contact the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Hernandez said the community is working to get posters of Maria up around the city.

“We also are getting big posters made. And we're going to put one poster, one banner in every big truck, every landscaper truck in this town,” Hernandez said. “We're going to have her face everywhere in town is our goal and we have four, four or five different taxi companies here today in our meeting, and I asked him if they will allow us to put a flyer on their windows and hand out flyers.”
