Three people were taken to the hospital with injuries Saturday evening following a three-vehicle wreck on Poplar Springs Road near Oakwood.
The Georgia State Patrol said troopers were dispatched to that crash just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Poplar Springs Road and Bell Road.
Investigators determined a Nissan Altima was stopped in the eastbound left turn lane on Poplar Springs, waiting to turn left onto Hope Road. A Mercury Grand Marquis was driving westbound on Poplar Springs and approaching the intersection. Simultaneously, a Ford Fusion was driving in the eastbound left turn lane of Poplar Springs and approaching the Altima.
The driver of the Ford was also intending to turn left onto Hope Road, but was reportedly traveling too fast to stop behind the Altima.
"The driver of the Fusion then crossed the center double yellow line into the westbound lane to pass the Altima and turn left onto Hope Road," the State Patrol said in a release. "The driver of the Mercury steered to the right and the Fusion struck the left front bumper of the Mercury with the left front bumper of the Fusion."
The crash caused the Ford to rotate and strike the left side of the Altima.
The driver of the Ford was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, while two passengers in the vehicle were also transported for complaint of injury.
