Quick reaction by workers at a Gainesville car repair shop and local fire rescue crews saves a garage from extensive damage Thursday.
Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) and the City of Gainesville Fire units responded to a reported fire in the 300 block of Highland Terrace in Gainesville suring the early evening hours.
A release from HCFR says their crews arrived on scene and found heavy smoke coming from a repair shop in an approximately 2,600-square-foot metal structure. After advancing hose lines inside, fire personnel discovered a car burning inside the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews later removed smoke and debris from inside the structure.
Preliminary reports from workers on scene indicated there were routine repairs taking place when the fire broke out, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
