A Gainesville man has been arrested after authorities said he shot at another vehicle while driving on Athens Highway last month.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth said the incident happened on April 7 on Athens Highway near Athens Street. The alleged shooter was Robert Beaucaire, age 26.
"Beaucaire fired a gunshot from his moving vehicle...one round hit another vehicle," Booth said. "Beaucaire knew the driver of the other vehicle and purposely targeted the victim. One of the rounds struck the drivers-side bedside area of the vicitm's pickup truck."
Booth said the shooting is believed to have been motivated by threats that the victim had allegedly made shortly before the incident towards two mutual acquaintances of the two.
"The victim of the gunshot incident, Joseph Wilson Savage, age 49 of Gainesville, was actually arrested a day after the gunshot incident...charged with two counts of terroristic threats and acts," Booth said.
Savage is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond as of last report.
Investigators found and arrested Beaucaire at a home on Wildflower Road in Braselton on Tuesday, May 27. He faces one charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. As of Thursday afternoon, he remained in the Hall County Jail on $5,700 bond.
