A Gainesville man was arrested on Monday, May 26, after he allegedly broke into a woman's home, assaulted her and led authorities on a foot chase.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Ricardo Guzman-Hernandez, 31, entered the window of the 43-year-old victim's house near Titshaw Drive at around 10 p.m.
Guzman-Hernandez reportedly grabbed the victim’s arms multiple times and tried to strangle her with his hand and forearm.
He also tried to grab her phone to stop her from calling 911. The victim was able to get away from him in another room and Guzman-Hernandez left the house.
The victim was checked by Hall County Fire Rescue but refused transport to the hospital.
Guzman-Hernandez was seen at around 11:50 p.m. walking on Industrial Boulevard and Hall Street.
Deputies attempted to arrest him, but he ran away.
Guzman-Hernandez went to Mountaincrest Drive, where he fell and was arrested.
He was charged with first-degree burglary, aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act, simple battery under the Family Violence Act, interfering with an emergency call and obstruction of an officer.
Guzman-Hernandez remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.
