Gainesville man allegedly hit a gas pump and bit an officer while under the influence.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), 19-year-old Braxton Eli Hallman hit a gas pump at the 76 gas station on Lula Road at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hallman was reportedly trying to leave the scene, but Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was evaluating him.

He declined further checks from HCFR and deputies began speaking to him about the incident.

It was then they reported observing signs of alcohol impairment.

Hallman began to walk away when deputies told him he was being detained for the investigation.

He then allegedly resisted deputies trying to put him in handcuffs by pulling his hands away. Deputies were able to handcuff him, then Hallman bit one of the deputies’ thighs, causing bruising and swelling.

Hallman was not injured during the altercation.

He was charged with felony obstruction of an officer and misdemeanor battery.

They also charged him with hit and run, DUI under 21, and open container — all misdemeanors.

Hallman was booked into the Hall County Jail where he remains without bond.
