The most recent Powerball jackpot has been won in Georgia.
The official post from lottery officials at Powerball.com report on Thursday that a single ticket sold in Georgia matched all six numbers drawn last night to win a jackpot worth $478.2 million. The jackpot has a cash value of $230.6 million for a one time, lump sum payment. Both prize options are before taxes.
The winning numbers in the Wednesday, October 23 Powerball drawing were white balls 2, 15, 27, 29, 39 and red Powerball 20. The Power Play® multiplier was 2X.
The lucky ticket holder is reported to have purchased their ticket in Buford, and will have the choice between an annuitized prize of $478.2 million or a lump sum payment of $230.6 million. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5-percent each year.
Nationwide, there were 616,153 tickets that won prizes in last night’s drawing, including two tickets that matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes. The $1 million-winning tickets were sold in Pennsylvania and Texas.
As of this morning, no one has come forward to Georgia State Lottery Corporation officials to claim the winning prize.
