Buford man accused of throwing freezer at man on Lake Lanier boat slip

A Buford man was arrested early Thursday, July 3, after he allegedly took his clothes off and threw a freezer at a man at a boat slip on Lake Lanier.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth said the suspect, Logan Nicholas Young, 42, the 59-year-old victim, and two women were in the victim’s boat in the 6900 block of Lanier Islands Parkway on the night of July 2.

“Young took all his clothes off in front of the victim and one of the women, leading to an argument,” Booth said. “During the confrontation, Young punched the victim in the victim’s chest and then got off the boat.”

The victim started walking the women to the end of the dock, and Young appeared and threw a deep freezer at the victim.

The freezer hit the victim in the head, which knocked him unconscious and into the lake.

The victim regained consciousness and swam to the shore. Deputies described his injury as a large laceration to his head. But he refused medical treatment.

“Deputies went to Young’s houseboat in a nearby slip and attempted to speak with him, knocking on the boat and announcing their presence numerous times,” Booth said.

Hall County 911 called Young, but he reportedly silenced his phone and turned off the lights on his boat.

Deputies took out arrest warrants for felony aggravated assault at around 3:15 a.m.

After not responding to deputies' announcements that they had warrants for his arrest, deputies entered the home and found Young hiding under a bed.

He was arrested and charged with simple battery, Public indecency and obstruction of an officer.

Young was booked into the Hall County Jail and posted $13,230 bond and was released from jail on Sunday, July 6.
