By Will Daughtry News Reporter

Following a domestic violence incident in Buford Friday night, a 36-year-old man was arrested and remains in the Hall County Jail without bond.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), deputies arrested Ryan Steven Parker after responding to the residence just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

Parker and the adult woman victim were home when deputies arrived.

“The suspect and the victim had become involved in a verbal argument earlier in the day that escalated to physical violence that night,” B.J. Williams with the sheriff’s office said. “Parker slapped the victim in the head multiple times, and he also choked her.”

Williams added that the investigation determined that Parker threatened to kill the woman with a handgun and that he sexually assaulted the victim and refused to allow her to leave.

The victim and Parker were known to each other according to Williams.

Parker was charged with rape, two counts of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery under the Family Violence Act, and terroristic threats and acts.
