FGN Week 8 wrap: Commerce wins thriller, Buford bests Collins Hill

Week 8 of high school football is in the books and there were plenty of great games around Northeast Georgia.

Commerce won a back-and-forth thriller against Rabun County to keep pace in Region 8-A Division I. The Tigers are one game behind Athens Academy, which beat Banks County, 41-6.

Buford used a big second half to knock off Collins Hill 34-7 at Tom Riden Stadium in a huge Region 8-6A matchup. 

In Region 8-3A, Cherokee Bluff got off to a 1-0 start in region play with a 41-14 win over West Hall, while Jefferson got a big win over Monroe Area, 38-14. Oconee County also found themselves in the win column with a 56-7 victory over East Hall.

Lakeview Academy hung on for a long time against Bethlehem Christian but ultimately fell 17-0. Gainesville shut out Seckinger, setting up next week's big matchup with Milton.
