By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Blairsville man was arrested Tuesday evening on a list of drug charges in Towns County.

In a social media post, Towns County Sheriff's Office officials said a K-9 deputy pulled over Bobby Dewayne Cantrell, age 43, for a traffic stop on U.S. 76 near Young Harris. The deputy's K-9 alerted on Cantrell's vehicle, leading to a search which authorities said yielded methamphetamine that field tested positive for fentanyl.

Cantrell was arrested at the scene and taken to the Towns County Detention Center where officials allegedly found more meth on his person.

Cantrell remains in the county detention center without bond and faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and crossing guard lines with drugs.
