Two men were arrested in Gwinnett County earlier this month on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a statement Wednesday saying Gelis Escalona Martinez, age 41, and Hector Moreno Luzardo, age 35, both of Venezuela, were arrested on July 2. The investigation into the alleged crimes reportedly started in March.
The investigation involved the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
"Agents with ARDEO initiated an investigation into Luzardo after receiving information that Luzardo was involved with the sale of cocaine," the GBI's release said.
That investigation led to a search warrant being issued for Luzardo's home in Gwinnett County.
"During the search, investigators seized approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine, over one half a kilogram of cocaine, and cash from the home," the GBI release said.
Martinez was also found inside the home during the search. He had reportedly been identified as a participant in the drug sales.
The case remains under investigation. Luzardo and Martinez were both booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
