By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Gainesville man was hospitalized after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Queen City Parkway near I-985 Wednesday morning.

A report from the Georgia State Patrol said the wreck happened around 6:00 a.m. when the truck, driven by John Snead, age 70 of Dahlonega, was heading northbound on Queen City Parkway and turned left onto I-985 Southbound. Investigators said he failed to yield and was hit in the side by a silver Mazda that was going south on Queen City Parkway.

The Mazda went under the truck's trailer and the driver, Manuel Martinez Santos, age 28, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Hall County Fire Rescue crews. He was taken to a nearby hospital with what state patrol officials called non-life-threatening injuries.

Snead was charged with Failure to Yield While Turning Left.
