Duluth man killed in South Hall crash Sunday morning

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Duluth man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in southeastern Hall County early Sunday morning.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office issued a statement Tuesday afternoon, saying the wreck happened at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday on Poplar Springs Road near Pine Vale Road. The sheriff's office said Adrian D. Rodriguez Gil, age 28, was driving a Honda Civic in a curve on Poplar Springs Road when he lost control of his vehicle.

"The car hit a tree and caught fire," the sheriff's office said. "Hall County Fire Rescue extinguished the fire and removed Gil from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene."

Rodriguez Gil's body was sent for autopsy and the sheriff's office added that he was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Poplar Springs Road was blocked for around an hour and a half while crews worked the scene. The crash was one of two fatal single-vehicle accidents in Hall County on Sunday morning.
