Alleged shooter in Oakwood domestic case dies from injuries

By AccessWDUN Staff

An 82-year-old man thought to be the shooter in a domestic incident in Oakwood last week has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An obituary indicated Horace Daniel Owens died on Sunday, Feb. 7. The Hall County Sheriff's Office confirmed the death Tuesday.

Owens had been hospitalized since the Feb. 2 shooting incident at a residence on Old Pleasant Hill Road. At the time, investigators said Owens shot his 62-year-old daughter during an argument and then turned the gun on himself. The Hall County Sheriff's Office said the daughter suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident; she is recovering.
