A Gainesville man was arrested Saturday evening following a domestic incident in which he allegedly pointed a rifle at a woman and a child.

According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Jose C. Osorio-Gonzalez, 38, of Gainesville, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act and five misdemeanor counts of cruelty to children in the third degree following the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the county just before 10 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from one of the victims. A preliminary investigation determined Osorio-Gonzalez allegedly became upset when he could not find his handgun.

"He believed an adult female victim in the home had hidden the weapon and he confronted her with a rifle, pointing it at her head," the press release said. "He also pointed the rifle at a child in the home. Other children in the residence witnessed the incident."

The suspect was not at the home when deputies arrived, but he was found at a nearby home shortly after and was arrested.

He remained in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Monday morning.
