An 82-year-old Hall County man and his 62-year-old daughter are hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a shooting incident on Old Pleasant Hill Road in the Oakwood area Tuesday afternoon.

Derreck Booth, a spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office, described the incident as an attempted murder-suicide, saying the shooting was the result of a domestic argument at the home.

"Deputies responded to the shooting in the 3000 block of Old Pleasant Hill Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. and located two individuals suffering from shotgun wounds," Booth said in an email statement. "According to the initial investigation, the suspect, Horace Owens, 82, shot his daughter, 62, and then shot himself."

Owens was last reported in critical condition while the daughter was said to be in stable condition.

Owens' wife was in the home at the time, but she was not injured.

Booth did not say what sparked the argument that led to the shooting.
