A Gainesville man, reported to be a member of the criminal gang the Gangster Disciples, is accused of intimidating witnesses in an attempted murder trial.
Gainesville Police Department detectives said they received a tip in early February about social media posts on Thomas D'angelo Clark's Facebook page. In those posts, the 24-year-old Clark reportedly was threatening any witnesses who planned to testify in the trial of Willie Moran, who faced charges of attempted murder in two separate shooting incidents, both from Jan. 23, 2019.
Three people were seriously injured in the shootings; two were hurt at the Huddle House restaurant on Jesse Jewell Parkway and third was shot in the face hours later on Marlow Drive in Hall County.
Investigators discovered the intimidation tactics two days before Moran was convicted on three counts of attempted murder and two counts of second-degree damage to property. Moran was sentenced to 130 years in prison. Moran had entered guilty pleas in December to other charges linked to the crimes.
As the investigation unfolded into Clark's activities, investigators determined Clark was affiliated with a criminal gang. Both Clark and Moran are believed to be members of the Gangster Disciples, according to Gainesville police; beyond that, officers did not know anything else about how the two might have known each other.
As of Monday morning, Clark remained in the Hall County Jail with no bond.
