Gainesville man charged with 76 additional counts of sexual exploitation of a minor over a year after his arrest

A Gainesville man remained in jail without bond Wednesday after being charged with 76 additional counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Mark Jason Wood, 44, was arrested in August last year at his residence on Whitmire Circle.

After the initial examination of devices seized during the search of Wood’s residence in August 2019, investigators with the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force found approximately nine videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth said investigators obtained the warrants for 76 added charges of sexual exploitation of a minor in June of this year.

Wood had at least 75 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on his computer and one on his phone.

Wood was booked back in at the Hall County Jail on Tuesday, Dec. 1, after being transported from Texarkana, Texas, to face the additional Hall County charges.
