The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a $125,000 contract for improvements on a 7.5-mile stretch of Old Cornelia Highway in Hall County.
GDOT announced the contract Wednesday, saying the work will include the installation of rumble strips and pavement marking upgrades on the highway between East Main Street in Gainesville and Ga. 52 near Lula.
"Projects like this represent our ongoing commitment to improving roadway safety for drivers across Northeast Georgia," GDOT officials said in a release. "With over seven miles of enhancements on a heavily traveled corridor, we're taking meaningful steps to reduce crash risks and keep communities connected safely."
Construction on the project is expected to start soon with expected completion by April 30, 2026, weather permitting.
The contract was awarded to TRP Construction Group, LLC.
