By AccessWDUN Staff

After investigating for two months, the Hall County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for selling several stolen vehicles for scrap metal.

Lt. Scott Ware said Arthur Harold Wilson, 36, of North Hall, took five stolen vehicles to a local metal recycling business, claiming to be the owner of the vehicles, and then receiving money in exchange for the cars.

"In one incident during this investigation, Wilson is charged with stealing the vehicle himself," Ware said.

Ware said the illegal activity took place from late February until mid-March.

Investigators arrested Wilson on Monday, April 1 at a residence on Candler Road.

"Among the cars Wilson sold were a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina, 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, 1996 Jeep, 1995 Toyota Camry and a 1993 Plymouth Voyager," Ware said. "Wilson received payments which ranged from $201 to $288."

Wilson was charged with felony theft by taking, four counts of making false statements and five counts of theft by deception, according to Ware.

In addition, Wilson was found in possession of methamphetamine and a meth smoking device at the time of his arrest, so he faces drug charges, as well.
