By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Hall County authorities are investigating after a body was found in a car near a gas station on Browns Bridge Road west of Gainesville Sunday morning.

A release Monday afternoon from the Hall County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to a suspicious vehicle report at the Exxon Food Mart on Browns Bridge Road near Whitmire Drive just after 11:00 a.m.

"When deputies arrived, they observed a 2015 Mercedes Benz C 300 parked outside of a barbershop located in the shopping area," the release from the sheriff's office said. "When they approached the vehicle and opened the rear door, they found a partially decomposed body of an adult male in the back seat."

B.J. Williams with the Hall County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said that there is no sign of foul play.

"There's no sign of foul play. That said, there's no specific known cause of death," Williams said.

Authorities did say that, based on the state of decomposition the body was found in, the man had likely been dead for at least a few days.

The body was taken to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy. The man's identity has not been confirmed.
