Gainesville man arrested for alleged child molestation

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Gainesville man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of child molestation.

A statement from the Hall County Sheriff's Office said Christopher Michael Davis, age 36, turned himself in to the Hall County Jail after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Thursday, July 24. The alleged crime took place in August 2024 in a home off of the Dawsonville Highway corridor west of Gainesville.

The sheriff's office said they were asked to investigate the allegations by the Gainesville Police Department in late May after GPD officials told the sheriff's office that they had determined the alleged crime happened in the county, not the city.

"According to the investigation, the molestation occurred at a residence during August of 2024. Davis...knew the victim, who is under the age of 16, prior to the incident," the statement from the sheriff's office said.

The case remains under investigation. Davis is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Thursday afternoon.
