By B.J. Williams

A police chase on Tuesday that started with a traffic stop in Lumpkin County and ended with a car crash in northwest Hall County has now led to the drug arrests of four women in Lumpkin County.

The initial incident occurred when a Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by 31-year-old Samantha Woody. Woody sped from the scene; she had four men in the vehicle with her. All were caught after Woody crashed the vehicle on Cool Springs Road in northwest Hall County.

During the ensuing investigation, authorities found a small amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle, according to Mitchell Posey, Special Agent in Charge of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).

"ARDEO agents interviewed the subjects and learned that the methamphetamine had been purchased earlier in the day from Susan Rogers, 47, of...Flanders Rd. Dahlonega," Posey said in an email statement. "The interviews indicated that Rogers had been selling methamphetamine from her residence."

Posey said agents and Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office investigators conducted a search of Flanders home.

"During the search, authorities seized approximately one ounce of methamphetamine, 19 Percocet tablets and $829," Posey said.

He said another woman at the residence, 57-year-old Patsy Garrison, also had methamphetamine in her possession.

"Lisa Norton, 47, of Dahlonega arrived during the search and was found to be in possession of approximately three ounces of methamphetamine. Subsequently, authorities executed a search warrant at Norton’s residence [on] Dylan Dr., Dahlonega, GA. Another six ounces of methamphetamine, two ounces of marijuana, numerous RX tablets, a handgun and $400 was located during the search," Posey said.

Posey said a fourth woman, 45-year-old Virginia McGee, was arrested at the Dylan Drive location when authorities found her in possession of meth and marijuana.

Posey estimated the value of all the illegal drugs at $34,760.

Posey outlined the charges against the women as follows:

  • Patsy Garrison-possession of methamphetamine
  • Susan Rogers-possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV (Percocet)
  • Lisa Norton-2 counts of trafficking methamphetamine, 2 counts possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession Schedule II narcotics, possession of marijuana (felony), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
