Tanger Outlet Mall in Commerce offers gift cards to federal government workers affected by partial shutdown

Tanger Outlets in Commerce is offering a gift card to any federal government worker affected by the partial government shut down.

The $20 gift cards are being issued through the retailer's Happy Perks program.

"We know it's a difficult time for folks to be out of work, and we just, as a company, wanted to show our support for government workers that are impacted," said General Manager Mark Valentine. "We're providing just a free $20 gift card to any federal worker that comes to visit us between now and January 28."

The promotion also includes additional discounts at select retailers. See the flier here.

To get the gift card, Valentine said workers must show a valid federal government ID at shopper services. The promotion is valid through January 28, 2019 and only one gift card will be given per person. The officer is valid exclusively for the following government agencies and departments affected by the shutdown: State, Treasury, Justice, Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, EPA, Transportation, NASA and Homeland Security.
