By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Several pets were killed in a mobile home fire in Banks County Sunday morning.

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services officials said crews were called to the scene on Barnes Road near Commerce just before 7:30 a.m.

"Upon arrival units found a single-family structure well involved in fire," a report issued Monday said.

The fire was put out quickly, and the people inside the home were able to escape without injury. However, officials confirmed that several family pets died in the fire.

The American Red Cross has been requested to help the occupants of the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said it was possibly an accidental electrical fire. The scene was cleared just before 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
