Franklin County authorities confirm death investigation

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas confirmed late Wednesday night his office is investigating a Labor Day weekend death. 

A white male victim was struck by a vehicle in the Gumlog area Sunday morning. 

“The driver did leave the scene,” Thomas said in a written statement. “We have a person of interest in the Franklin County Detenton Center charged with aggravated assault at this time.” 

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigators, GBI agents, the Georgia State Patrol and the GBI Crime Lab all are cooperating in the ongoing investigation.
