A man with outstanding warrants was arrested in Maysville after he attempted to elude officers Sunday.
The Maysville Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers received a report of a white male knocking on multiple doors in the area of West Freeman St.
An officer located the suspect, Joshua Pruitt, on Deadwyler Rd. It was then discovered Pruitt had outstanding warrants, including felony probation violation out of Barrow County. The officer attempted to place Pruitt in handcuffs, but he managed to evade arrest and fled into nearby woods.
Officers from the Commerce Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene along with a K9 Unit from Franklin County. K9 handler Deputy Cochran and his K-9 Peggy Sue worked with the MPD officer to track Pruitt through the woods for half a mile before locating him near a creek.
Pruitt surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.
