A Lawrenceville man could face charges in a recent boating incident on Lake Lanier that injured three teenagers.

A report from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources indicates charges are pending against Brian Tran, Sr. in the incident that occurred Saturday, August 5 around 12:30 p.m.

The report said Tran was operating his pontoon boat at a high rate of speed in a cove near Lanier Islands Parkway adjacent to Blueridge Campground. At the time, he was towing three passengers on a tube. The passengers were identified in the report as Ashley Tran, 17, Mya Wilkes, 18, and Ian Hardy, 18.

"Brian Tran, Sr. proceeded to operate his boat in such a manner that he caused Ashley Tran, Wilkes, and Hardy to be ejected from the tube, into the rocky shoreline," the report stated.

When the tube hit the shoreline, the teens were seriously hurt.

Ashley Tran suffered the most serious injuries - facial fractures, facial lacerations, knee lacerations and a number of abrasions. The report said Wilkes and Hardy suffered "abrasions at multiple sites." All three were treated at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
