By AccessWDUN Staff

BEREA, Ky. — With back-to-back contests on the road against the top seeds in the USA South West Division, the Piedmont College women's basketball team rose to the occasion with a pair of victories over the weekend including a 79-70 win over Berea Sunday. The three teams all now have two losses in league play with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Piedmont led by as many as seven in the early going, but before the end of the first it would swing the other direction with Berea taking a seven point advantage. The Mountaineers led 25-20 at the end of the first, but Amari Price would tie the contest at 32 with just under 5:30 before halftime.

A 6-0 run to end the half gave Piedmont a 45-50 lead at the break, but momentum did not carry over into the third quarter. Berea would outscore Piedmont 11-9 in the third quarter as that was the only period Piedmont did not score 20 or more.

With the game tied at 65 with 3:36 remaining, Bridgette Kelly knocked down a 3-pointer to spark a 7-0 run by the Lady Lions. That was just enough to distance Piedmont from the Mountaineers and seal the victory in the final minutes.
