DEMOREST — Veronica Cappas and Jazmin Penado scored in the first half to help the Piedmont College women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Berry College at the Walker Athletic Complex on Thursday night.
Piedmont broke the scoreless tie in the 13 minute after a double assist from Madison Hatfield and Anslyn Stamps found Cappas for the early goal.
Less than 20 minutes later, Samantha Ishee delivered a long ball off a free kick to Penado who was able to head the ball in to give Piedmont the 2-0 lead in the 30th minute.
Piedmont held a 7-6 shot advantage at halftime.
After the break, Piedmont continued to pressure the Vikings defense and rattled off 11 shots while the Vikings could only muster three shots in the final 45 minutes.
Senior Cassidy Reich led all players with six shots with three being on cage.
Sophomore goalie Miranda McNalley saved both shots she faced in 90 minutes. She improves to 3-1-1 on the season.
