Atlanta-based firm buys Village Shoppes on Dawsonville Highway

A real estate investment firm in Atlanta has purchased the Village Shoppes at Gainesville, the Publix-anchored shopping complex at the corner of Ga. 53/Dawsonville Highway and McEver Road.

Branch Properties bought the 230,000 square foot center from Retail Properties of America of Oak Brook, Illinois, according to a media release from Branch Properties officials.

In addition to the grocery store, the property includes retailers such as Party City, Marshalls, Ross, Old Navy and Shoe Carnival. Other tenants include Starbucks, Wingstop, UPS Store, Great Clips and AT&T.

"We are committed to a strategy of the purchase and development of grocery anchored shopping centers in the Southeast and we look forward to providing the community of Gainesville with an outstanding shopping experience," Jesse Shannon, Chief Investment Officer for Branch Properties said.

The private firm's primary focus is grocery-anchored shopping centers located in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina, according to the release.

Company officials did not disclose the purchase price.
