A teacher at Mill Creek High School is behind bars, accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.
Julee Sams Impara, 48, faces one count of sexual assault, and was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on Tuesday, according to a press release from Gwinnett County Police.
The victim, a juvenile male, reportedly had innapropriate text messages on his cell phone from Impara, which the boy's mother found. She contacted police on January 15.
When authorities confronted Impara, she did not deny the relationship.
The victim told police the two began having sexual contact outside of school, and Impara even picked the boy up from his home on occasion.
Police said it is not uncommon for teachers to give out their personal cell phone number to students, should the students need to contact the teacher for help or instruction.
