Two men face charges for allegedly trafficking more than 500 pounds of marijuana valued at $1.2 million following their arrest during a traffic stop in Lawrenceville.
A Lawrenceville Police officer stopped the U-Haul truck, driven by Mark Anthony Spaziano, 46, of Suwanee near the intersection of Cedars Road and Highway 316 around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release from the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.
The Gwinnett Metro Task Force was called to investigate, and then subsequently arrested Spaziano and his passenger, John Anthony Edney, 48, of Sugar Hill, when a drug sniffing dog located 427 packages of marijuana in the vehicle that weighed 504.3 pounds.
Both men are charged with trafficking marijuana, and were taken to the Gwinnett County Jail without incident.
Spaziano and Edney had their first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
